Esimit Europa 2’s final preparations are almost complete with just one week remaining until the start of the European team’s second event of the season, the Palermo-Monte Carlo race. Having taken line honours at the Giraglia Rolex Cup in June, Igor Simcic and his professional crew are well prepared for the 500 mile offshore race.
On Cyprus, Igor Simčič, Esimit Europa project General Manager, met with Dr. Erato Kozakou Marcoullis, Minister of Communications and Works.
At today’s official prizegiving in San Remo, Owner Igor Simcic was presented with the Rolex Trophy, Rene Levainville Trophy and the Beppe Croce Trophy for Esimit Europa 2’s success in the Giraglia Rolex Cup.
Esimit Europa 2 has taken line honours in the Giraglia Race having magestically crossed the finish line in San Remo at 1105 this morning. Owner Igor Simcic and his European crew onboard the 100 foot, canting keel maxi completed the 241 nautical mile course in just over 23 hours.
The 220 Giraglia Rolex Cup race participants left for San Remo today at 12.00 CEST, with a south-easterly wind of 8 to 10 knots. Jethou, the 18 m Mini Maxi of Peter Ogden was the first boat to round the offset-mark off Port Grimaud as the fleet set out on the 241-mile Giraglia Race in direction of the Island La Fourmique, before heading to the Giraglia Rock off Corsica.
