Founder of the Esimit Europa project Igor Simcic met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier today and presented to him the Esimit Europa project. At this opportunity minister expressed his support the project and its mission of promoting the integration of the European continent.
This meeting was another important recognition of the Esimit Europa project and its aim to strengthen friendly relations among European countries.
Esimit Europa was recognised as the main donator in the year 2015 by the Foundation Vrabček Upanja (Sparrow of Hope) for the donation with the purpose of buying new necessary equipment and medical devices for the ward for disabled youth and rehabilitation at Stara Gora and the Maternity Department of the hospital in Šempeter pri Gorici. Besides the donations, Esimit Europa was also the main sponsor of the charity football match that was held in Bilje near Nova Gorica (Slovenia), in the region where the project was founded 20 years ago.
To celebrate 20 years of the vision of the Slovenian businessman and entrepreneur Igor Simčič, the founder of the Esimit Europa project, 200 guests and friends of Esimit Europa gathered on the magnificent deck terrace of the new clubhouse of the Yacht Club de Monaco, which is home to the Esimit Europa 2 yacht. Among those attending the gala event organised on this very special occasion were several Ministers, Members of the European Parliament, Ambassadors and Consuls, Managers of sponsoring and partner companies and leaders of several important yachting institutions, who share a passion for sailing and support for this unique European project. Celebrations were held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.
By crossing the finish line at 11:46:48 Esimit Europa 2 managed to improve by more than one hour the previous best finishing time in the Palermo-Montecarlo Race set in 2010. As the Esimit Sailing Team celebrated their triumph the nearest following rival was still sailing through the Strait of Bonifacio. The record time made the victory in front of the home yacht club even more exciting, all the more so since they arrived here to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Esimit Europa project in the Yacht Club de Monaco at the end of next week.
At midday today amid a record fleet of 43 yachts from 7 countries, Esimit Europa 2 set sail from the starting line in Palermo to embark on the 500 nautical mile long course from the Gulf of Mondello towards Port Hercules in Monte Carlo, where her home yacht club is based. The course will take competing yachts through the gateway in front of Porto Cervo in mid-race, leaving Sardinia on port side, while after the gateway yachts may choose whether to sail Corsica on port or starboard side.
