Boats racing at Cowes Week Big Boat Series on the last day enjoyed superb sailing conditions with bright sun and clear skies. The main south-westerly sea breeze filled in a little earlier than predicted, allowing the starting sequence to get underway just before midday in champagne sailing conditions, with plenty of sun and 10 knots breeze that built to 15-18 knots by mid afternoon. The biggest yachts in IRC Class 0 made an impressive sight as they started from the Bramble line at the beginning of their long first leg to Lymington Bank buoy, led by Esimit Europa 2 performing a great “America’s Cup” style start. European flagged racer led from start to finish, crossing the finish line 7 minutes in front of Bella Mente (USA) and Azzam (UAE), finishing first at both Cowes Week Big Boat Series races. After media day on Friday, with British sailing champion Ed Wright onboard, the Esimit Sailing Team will focus on Sunday’s start of the Rolex Fastnet Race.
