The day before its premiere participation in Slovenia, at the Diplomatic Regatta in Izola, the sailors of Europe's fastest yacht – the Esimit Europa 2 – spent in the company of children from Association for Down syndrome, Planet 47. The Esimit Sailing Team with actions such as today’s reflects the main mission of the project, which is connecting all Europeans.

The international team of professional sailors coming from 10 different countries, multiple time winners of the America's Cup, Olympic, World and European Champions, among each other warmly welcomed Andreja, Eva, Nino and Val from the Association for Down syndrome, Planet 47. Leading the children through a sailing adventure was the watchful eye of the skipper Jochen Schümann. The Esimit Sailing Team as well as their guests spent a relaxed day under the yacht's wing, together performing true sailing maneuvers as it is helming and turning the 30-meter yacht and hoisting the main sail.

"We've spent a day full of simple and genuine happiness, which will cherish our memories for a long time,« said Igor Simčič, founder of the Esimit Europa project, and added: »Through the Esimit Europa 2 yacht we unite people – without boundaries."

"You’ve created a wonderful experience for children and youngsters with Down syndrome. We at Planet 47 wish for many initiatives similar to yours, as our goal is to actively include persons with Down syndrome to the community," added Alan Asta from institution for Down syndrome, Planet 47.

On Saturday, 14. September the crew of the Esimit Europa 2 yacht awaits the first participation at the regatta in Slovenia – Diplomatic Regatta in Izola. Before leaving the Mediterranean on its attempt to beat the World Sailing Record Trieste – Valletta and a challenge in Malta, the crew will participate at the Bernetti Lombardini Cup and the world renowned single start Barcolana regatta in the Gulf of Trieste.
