Medot, one of Europe’s most specific sparkling wines, is a result of 200-year tradition of winemaking and wine culture of Igor Simčič’s family. Medot stands for passion and dedication to the Goriška brda region in Slovenia. The wine has a specific taste deriving from Ribolla Gialla wine grape and is therefore the ambassador of this grape variety.

Medot is hand in hand with one of the world’s fastest sailing yachts – Esimit Europa 2 – conquering the world. It sponsors the yacht from her premiere participation in 2010. While Esimit Europa 2 for the fourth consecutive season dominates in the world of competitive sailing and also crowned this season by taking the line honours win at one of the most demanding regattas in Europe – the Rolex Fastnet Race. The international team of sailors is composed of multiple winners of the America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, Olympic, World and European champions coming from 10 different countries. Esimit Europa 2 to this day posted wins at all 27 attended races, set 6 course records and earned the title of being the world’s best maxi yacht.

On Wednesday, 9. October Medot Wine Cellar hosted the Esimit Sailing Team while they are stopping in the region. After returning from northern Europe, the Esimit Europa 2 for the first time participated at a race in Slovenia – at the Diplomatic Regatta. Now they are getting ready for the renowned Barcolana regatta and the classic Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta. On their way to Malta, they will attempt to beat the passage record between the cities of Trieste and Valletta – Medot Sailing Trophy.
