Vision, passion and commitment to the idea have led to the beginning of one of the most successful European projects – Esimit Europa – forming unique bonds among Europeans on sports, diplomatic and economic levels. The symbol of this ambitious project founded by Igor Simčič, the Esimit Europa 2 yacht, is for the fourth consecutive season dominating the regattas in the European seas. It boasts a winning record of 27 line honour victories at 27 races attended; moreover, it has set six course records and has earned the title of the world’s best maxi yacht.
This season the yacht has sailed outside of the Mediterranean and has continued with its winning performances in the tough competitions at races in Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In the latter it posted a win at the Rolex Fastnet Race, which is one of the world’s most demanding sailing challenges. With it, the yacht entered the most prestigious sailing circles and earned a membership to the English Royal Ocean Racing Club, which is considered among the most notable sailing clubs.
In the fall, the Esimit Europa 2 yacht returned to the Mediterranean and marked its first performance at a regatta in the Republic of Slovenia – the Diplomatic Regatta. On this occasion, the Esimit Sailing Team attended a reception held by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
"Congratulations to the team which, bearing the SLO 1001 marking on the yacht’s mainsail, crossed the finish line first at some of the toughest competitions in Europe. With those performances, the Esimit Sailing Team has put Slovenia on the world’s map of sailing among countries with a rich maritime tradition and dominance at this sport," stated President Borut Pahor.
The founder of the project, Igor Simčič, added: "I am convinced that the key to success in every team lies in a clear vision, collaboration and hard work towards the set goals. A reception held by the president is therefore a big honour, noting not only our sports achievements, but also the mission of our project – connecting Europeans in different fields."
In the final stages of this year’s season, the Esimit Europa 2 will take part at the Barcolana regatta this weekend, after which it will leave the Adriatic and take the Slovenian sail further around the globe.
