The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Dr. Milan Brglez received Igor Simčič, founder of the Esimit Europa project and granted him a special letter of support to this unique project that is connecting worlds of sport, business and diplomacy for already 20 years.
In his letter of support Dr. Brglez stated the similarities between the project of the European Union itself and the Esimit Europa project, while he highlighted the inspirational power of the Esimit Europa project that connects people and European countries, enhances economic, business, and diplomatic integration and rises the sense of social responsibility. He pointed out, that the Esimit Europa project, mostly by the winning performances of the Esimit Europa 2 yacht, which is the result of the collaboration of all crew members and professionalism of all involved, their responsibilities and mutual trust, symbolises the essence of European integration and successful cooperation.
Dr. Brglez wrapped his thought about the Esimit Europa project by saying: “In the National Assembly, which is the intersection of various ideological, political and philosophical beliefs, we are aware that because of all this diversity, cooperation is sometimes difficult, but at the same time we are also aware that it is exactly the diversity that enriches our society, while the whole variety of different opinions allows us to find the best and most widely acceptable solutions. We therefore understand the precious contribution of the Esimit Europa project not only for the cooperation of all Europeans, but also increasingly for the global intercultural understanding.”
In the year 2015, which is marked with the 20th anniversary of the Esimit Europa project, this is another notable official recognition to the project. The president of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and several other presidents of the European countries also support the project. Among eminent European diplomats who support the project are Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, Sergey V. Lavrov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. In the beginning of 2015 the message of friendship and collaboration was extended beyond the European continent, achieving a worldwide dimension - crowned by the recognition of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon.
