Dear Subscriber,

Already on the first Sunday in October, Esimit Europa 2 was on the starting line of the next regatta in her busy autumn racing season. In a competition involving 165 yachts racing over a course approximately 15 nautical miles long between the cities of Trieste and Sistiana in Italy, Esimit Europa 2 also won the 2014 Bernetti Cup. Racing conditions were excellent and the boat achieved a maximum speed of 20.600 knots, improving on the speed record for mohoulls in the Gulf of Trieste according to “King of Speed” list managed by Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano. In the second week of October, the Gulf of Trieste hosted a week-long sailing festival, peaking with the largest single-start regatta in the Mediterranean, the Barcolana Regatta, with 1,878 yachts on the starting line on Sunday, October 12. Unlike a week before, wind conditions were at their lowest, with speeds ranging from 0 to only 2 knots for the entire race. After 2 hours, 38 minutes and 38 seconds of sailing over a distance of only some four nautical miles of the shortened course, Esimit Europa 2 managed to win in a dramatic finish with three other boats; the race was decided in literally just the last few meters. This was the fifth consecutive victory for Esimit Europa 2 at the Barcolana Regatta! Read more

Immediately after Barcolana, the Esimit Sailing Team set sails for Valletta with the aim of improving the record for the passage between Trieste and Valletta for the Medot Sailing Trophy, but the attempt was abandoned due to a broken spreader. The Esimit Sailing Team managed to fix the problem and arrive in Valletta in Malta in time for last race of the season, the Rolex Middle Sea Race. In a record fleet of 122 yachts from 24 countries racing over the 608-mile course around Sicily, Esimit Europa 2 was the first yacht in history to take a line honors victory for the fourth time in this Mediterranean classic, following the victories of 2010, 2011 and 2012. This was the crown of another successful season and her 35 consecutive win since her christening in 2010. Read more
