The Esimit Europa 2 yacht opens a new chapter in its history

On Europe Day, 9. May, during the first official training in the new season, Igor Simčič, founder of the Esimit Europa project, and Jochen Schümann, skipper of the Esimit Europa 2 yacht, revealed ambitions for the upcoming sailing season. After achieving 19 victories at all the attended races so far and setting 5 new course records, one of the fastest yachts in world is eager to repeat its success – for the first time outside the Mediterranean since its christening in 2010. New challenges are accompanied by the new hull and sails design. Brand new big yellow stars on the sides of the hull and on top of the mainsail together with new light blue lines illustrate new ambitions in the seas of northern Europe, while they project the team spirit among crew members and cooperation within all partners of the Esimit Europa project at the same time. Esimit Sailing Team member Vasilij Žbogar is aiming for Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro

Before the season’s highlights in finn sailing class (European Championship in Germany and World Championship in Estonia), the Esimit Sailing Team member Vasilij Žbogar established a long term partnership with the Esimit Europa project. Within the engagement, the ambitious sailing project of Igor Simčič will help Vasilij Žbogar reach the goals in Olympic class sailing and guarantee active participation onboard Esimit Europa 2. With the help of the Esimit Europa project, Žbogar, 2-times Olympic medallist and one of the best competitors at European and World Championships, will assure himself relevant conditions for trainings and participation at different championships as well as the World Cup regattas. Four excellent Russian sailors join the Pan-European crew onboard Esimit Europa 2

Igor Simčič, founder of the Esimit Europa project, announced that the Esimit Sailing Team composed of all-star sailors coming from 10 European countries and Russia, will be joined by 3 excellent Russian sailors. Alexander Ekimov, Egor Larionov, Nikolay Kornev and last year's addition to the team Anton Sergeev represent the Russian part of the Esimit Sailing Team. The yacht skippered by the best German sailor Jochen Schümann will not only further extend its message of Pan-European collaboration, but will also enter the new season with some technological improvements to be able to keep up its record breaking performances in northern Europe.
