WORLD SAILING RECORD MONACO – PORTO CERVO

Esimit Europa 2 won the race against the clock set between two scenic locations on the French Riviera and Italian seaside resort in northern Sardinia, covering the distance of 195 nautical miles. The journey started at the windless Port Hercule harbor in Monte Carlo at 4:56:36 am. After a couple of hours of sailing, Esimit Europa 2 caught some nice breeze and started to constantly pick up speed. After 10 hours 13 minutes and 42 seconds of sailing with average speed of almost 20 knots, the Esimit Sailing Team crossed the finish line in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

The record attempt is approved by the International Sailing Federation, under the World Sailing Speed Record Council Rule 21 (c) in a Powered Sailing System category. Esimit Europa 2 beat the previous record of 15 hours 24 minutes and 59 seconds, set in 2003, by a margin of 5 hours, 11 minutes and 17 seconds.
