Races 2014

Rolex Capri Sailing Week was in the year 2014 for 10th consecutive year on the schedule of the Rolex Mediterranean sailing season.  The event that joins both offshore and inshore racing in the historic surroundings of Capri and broader Southern Mediterranean this year attracted 12 Maxis and Mini Maxis arranging in length range from 18.29 to 30.5 meters. Esimit Europa 2 participated at the race for the premiere time.
 
The week started for the Maxi fleet on Monday 19th May with the Volcano Race. In this 4th edition of this scenic offshore race the organizers set the course south of Capri to round the volcano of Stromboli and then Strombolicchio before returning to Capri in a 230 nautical mile course. After a competitive race among the boats heading towards the volcanoes, Esimit Europa 2 was the first to round Stromboli in the night of 19th May. Racing back towards Capri was marked with many wind gaps before the Esimit Sailing Team finally sailed across the finish line as the first boat to finish the race after an elapsed time of 27 hours and 11 minutes, to secure its 29th consecutive line honors victory.
 
After that, three inshore races off Capri were scheduled between Thursday 22nd May and Saturday 24th May, but the first two races were later abandoned due to lack of wind. On last day the race committee was finally able to lower the postponement flag and call for the start of the race at noon.  Esimit Europa 2 victoriously concluded the Rolex Capri Sailing Week in a competitive Maxi fleet by crossing the finish line first at the 18 nautical mile coastal race in the picturesque waters around the island of Capri.
